Underfloor heating for design flooring

Laying a design floor over underfloor heating

Design floors can generally be laid over underfloor heating, but only over hot water underfloor heating systems and not over electric heating systems.

Our design flooring can be installed as a floating floor or glued down. It is between 6mm and 8mm thick. Full-surface adhesion is recommended for underfloor heating systems as the direct connection to the subfloor ensures good heat conduction.

Remember that our design flooring is subject to temperature changes and will expand and shrink. Heat the surface to a maximum of 27°C. However, gluing the floor in place will counteract this to some extent.

When our design flooring is installed as a floating floor, a thin layer of air is created between the subfloor and the floor, which affects thermal conductivity. Impact sound insulation is also required, which adds to the thermal resistance. If the floor is installed as a floating floor, it can work harder, causing the floor to buckle if there is not enough space between it and fixed components.

Old vinyl or PVC flooring should be removed before installation, even if it is firmly bonded to the sub-floor.

Design flooring should only be installed over hot water underfloor heating systems.
